About RGT

RGT 2018 is our local search for entertaining, talented people; three rounds culminating in a live final on 14 July.

Update 14 May 2018: Entry is now closed for RGT 2018.
All entrants will be contacted shortly.
Follow the competition on Facebook and Twitter.

The competition is part of the Rugby Festival of Culture.

Round 1 – Submissions

The first stage is the submissions round. We invite local talented acts to enter RGT 2018 by sending our judges video or audio. This is your chance to get involved in Rugby’s best talent competition, show us what you are all about, and make that all-important first impression!

You can learn more about entering round 1 on the Who Can Enter and How To Enter pages of this website.

Entry to the competition is open until midnight on 13 May 2018.

Our panel of judges will choose 12 acts to go through to round 2.

Round 2 – Semi-finals

There will be two semi-finals, six of our chosen acts will perform at each in front of a live audience and our panel of judges.

The semi-final dates are 04 July 2018 and 11 July 2018. Both events will be full shows starting at 6:30pm. These dates are part of Rugby Festival of Culture and the events will be held in the town centre.

Each act will have the opportunity to perform twice on the night and our judges will use their skills, knowledge and expertise along with considering how the acts relate to and work with the audience to send three acts through to the grand final each time.

Round 3 – The Final

The grand final of Rugby’s Got Talent 2018 will be held on Saturday 14 July. Once again there will be a live audience and the show and competition will be an important part of the Rugby Festival of Culture. The venue will be in the town centre and the competition will take place in front of a large audience and of course our judging panel.

A winner and runner up will both be announced at the end of the evening.

The semi-finals and final will be hosted by compere Jason Moss from Rugby FM. Tickets will be on general sale for the event and we are planning a “big show” feel with a professional sound and light crew, making sure that we give our performers the chance to showcase themselves properly.

The Judges

The judges for RGT 2018 will be independent of any act that might enter the competition and will include people with stage, music and artistic experience. The judging panel will be announced on this page very soon.

The judging panel may include an additional celebrity judge for the grand final but this is yet to be confirmed (as at 27 Feb 2018).

The Rules

There have to be rules – check out the small print.
